An overall grade on the Milwaukee Bucks signing of Rayjon Tucker

I was certainly being a bit harsh when I said that there was no chance for Tucker to make the team next season or that this is nothing more than the organization rewarding someone who has done great things with their G League affiliate. That’s a bit disrespectful to Tucker’s ability and diminishes what he’s done for the Herd.

Tucker is a good player that very much deserves this contract from the Bucks which not only gives him a chance to make the roster next year but also be able to experience playoff NBA basketball, even if he doesn’t play in any of the games.

This is still a low-risk signing for the team and provides them with the chance to keep Tucker in the organization for Summer League (and potentially beyond) without making a firm commitment to him.

It also serves as a notice to other players that the Bucks are willing to reward the guys that put in the work with the Herd and will give them their chance with the big club.

It’s entirely possible we see Tucker at the back-end of the Bucks’ roster next season as one of their depth guards who will continue to make the trip to and from Oshkosh to help mentor the younger guys and continue to set the culture that he has helped build.

Overall, I like the signing and I’m glad he’s finally getting his opportunity with the Milwaukee Bucks organization.
