Predicting where each of the Milwaukee Bucks’ impending free agents will land: Pat Connaughton – Milwaukee Bucks

Re-signing Pat Connaughton needs to be among the Milwaukee Bucks’ top priorities this coming offseason. The guard has proven to be too crucial to the team’s success to let him go, and it will be fascinating to see what he does with his upcoming player option worth $5.7 million. Connaughton has undoubtedly earned himself a raise following the most productive season of his career, but it appears that he prefers playing in Milwaukee above all else, which he highlighted throughout his exit interview time and time again, citing the championship culture and his teammates. It seems like Milwaukee is where Connaughton wants to be, and the two sides will likely look to keep him with the franchise for the foreseeable future. Who knows, Connaughton could potentially accept his upcoming player option and bypass the hurdles of free agency, but only time will tell. At the time of this writing, it appears that Pat Connaughton will be back in the 414 next season.

Predicting where each of the Milwaukee Bucks’ impending free agents will land: Bobby Portis – Milwaukee Bucks

Bobby Portis’ future with the Bucks is far harder to predict than Connaughton’s for many reasons. Although Portis has also proclaimed his love for the Bucks and Milwaukee consistently, he is also more than deserving of a raise after the best year of his NBA career, and no one could blame him for seeking it. He played on arguably the most team-friendly deal in the league this past season on a $4.3 million contract, and he will likely decline his upcoming $4.6 million deal for next year to get a hard-earned raise. While the Bucks will not have the most spending money at their disposal, the odds still seem logical that they could retain Portis. They may not be able to offer him as much as some opposing teams, but perhaps he would be willing to take a little less if it meant staying put in a championship culture where he has proven to be a seamless fit. Perhaps it is merely hopeful optimism at this point, but it would not be surprising to see the fan-favorite back next season.
