OG Anunoby would be a dream trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks

Last week, OG Anuonby would have never been on a list like this, given that he has been a vital piece for the Toronto Raptors over the past few years. However, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported recently that rival front offices have gotten word that Anunoby may be “dissasified” with his role in Toronto and that two teams have already been mentioned as potential landing spots. The Milwaukee Bucks were not among those two teams, but they should undoubtedly express some interest in the 24-year-old if there is some truth to these rumors.

Immediately, Anunoby would check off essentially every box on Milwaukee’s offseason to-do list. He would bolster their wing depth, add another solid scorer, provide more shooting, play defense, bring some much-needed lineup versatility to the roster, and add a touch of youth to one of the oldest teams in the association. Anunoby is essentially everything that the Bucks were missing in their playoff run all crammed into one player, and adding him would be a significant piece to bring aboard ahead of next season.

The fifth-year player is coming off his most productive season as a professional, having averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, so acquiring him will undoubtedly not be cheap for any interested suitors. Milwaukee does not have the best assets to offer Toronto in any proposed deal, and his $17.4 million salary for next season makes things rather challenging for the Bucks. Given how crucial Anunoby has been to their success, the Raptors will not move on from him for pennies on the dollar, which puts the Milwaukee Bucks in a tough spot.

While the chances of Milwaukee landing Anunoby are slim, Fischer notes that the Raptors are seeking a center, which brings up some interesting ideas. Would the Raptors potentially be willing to listen if the Bucks offered Lopez? It seems unlikely, due to Lopez’s age and that he just had a back procedure that caused him to miss almost virtually all of last season, but could Bobby Portis be of any interest to them? The big man is set to have a player option with the Bucks this offseason, and it is possible that he may seek a raise Milwaukee cannot offer him. Perhaps the Raptors could target the center in a sign-and-trade and move Anunoby if his frustration is legitimate. However, that is just a thought at this point in time.
