Reason No. 3 why the Milwaukee Bucks must retain Pat Connaughton – His versatility

Something you find in Pat Connaughton but don’t find in every player is versatility. He’s been compared to a Swiss Army knife and I feel that’s probably the best way to describe him. He can virtually play in any position which isn’t only important for a playoff rotation but provides vital cover as the regular season takes its toll on the injury front.

As I mentioned above, being so versatile during a playoff run is a high benefit to a team. not only does the team get a reliable player coming off the bench regularly but it gives star players a chance to get more rest if and when required. As a fan, it’s comforting knowing that whilst the likes of Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, or Giannis Antetokounmpo are resting, we have a reliable shooter and defender on the court. Whilst we never had an overly deep playoff run, I think we can all agree that Connaughton would have been a very useful cog in the machine had we made the NBA Finals for a second year running.

Now I know Connaughton isn’t the star of the year, he’s not the best player in the league however he put up a good argument to be the Bucks’ Sixth Man Of The Year this season. He has had his strongest season in a Bucks jersey on both ends of the court and he knows how the team works and fits in well with players and staff alike.

I think the Bucks would be mad not to keep PC around, I highly doubt we find a player of his quality for the price it’ll cost to keep him around, whether that is because he takes his $5.7 million player option or whether he rejects it and the Bucks pay him more (which he deserves).
