Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Jaden Hardy – Weaknesses

Finishing

Hardy is not the most explosive player and lacks a quick first step, which causes him to have problems finishing at the rim. His inability to blow by players or create a lot of separation leads to him taking a lot of tough shots around the basket. He must work on finishing through contact, and it would be helpful if he could develop a floater along with a better layup package.

Decision-Making

Although Hardy possesses talent as a scorer, he has been very inefficient and can have shot selection issues. He shot just 37.3 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from three in the G League. He doesn’t create a ton of separation in isolation, and this leads to him taking a ton of tough shots. He often forces up difficult shots instead of passing to teammates, resulting in him having more turnovers (76) than assists (73). He will definitely need to make smarter decisions and improve his shot selection so that he can become more efficient as a scorer.

Defensive Consistency

Jaden Hardy definitely struggles to be a consistent defender. He has the tools to be a decent defender with his long arms and occasional possessions where he really battles. However, he often is a liability on that end and loses focus frequently. There are possessions where he barely gives any effort on that end, and that simply cannot happen in the NBA. For him to really be able to be a key rotation player for a team, his defensive effort and consistency will need to improve.
