3 Milwaukee Bucks’ free agent targets with ties to coach Mike Budenholzer – Taurean Prince

When discussing some underrated soon-to-be free agent targets, Taurean Prince has to be listed, and the Milwaukee Bucks should have him on their radar.

Prince would be a perfect target for the Bucks as they seek out a small ball forward this offseason. This was a significant hole in Milwaukee’s roster this past season, and not having a power forward that could play those hefty minutes when Giannis Antetokounmpo went to center hurt the team’s roster versatility mightily. Prince would immediately help alleviate that issue, giving the Bucks a new small ball four in the form of a 6-foot-7, 218lb forward from Baylor. In addition to being a key piece on the defensive end due to his versatility, Prince could be a serviceable piece offensively as he has averaged 10.5 points per game while shooting 37.1 percent from three in his NBA career. All of those are perfect reasons why Prince would be an excellent target for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Although Prince has expressed his desire to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves next season, nothing is certain until the pen is put to paper. Perhaps the Bucks could attempt to lure him away with hopes of reuniting him with his former head coach. Budenholzer coached a young Prince in his first two years in Atlanta, and the latter had the best individual year of his career in that span. There would be a clear-cut role waiting for Prince in Milwaukee due to their current small ball four vacancy and the 28-year-old’s familiarity playing under Budenholzer.

Ultimately, Milwaukee’s lack of spending money could be an issue here, as well as Prince’s desire to return to Minnesota. Still, that should not stop the Bucks from at least trying to bring him in.
