3 Milwaukee Bucks’ free agent targets with ties to coach Mike Budenholzer – Dennis Schroder

After the lackluster season that George Hill just put together, the Milwaukee Bucks should be on the hunt for a new backup point guard, and Dennis Schroder could be an ideal fit.

The Bucks were linked to Schroder ahead of the trade deadline this past season when he was a member of the Boston Celtics, but nothing ultimately came of it. With Schroder set to hit the open market this offseason, the Bucks would be wise to reignite their interest in him, given how much of an upgrade he would be over Hill. Over the past four seasons, one of which where he finished as the runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year, Schroder has been a force off the bench by averaging an eye-catching 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Numbers like that could make this Milwaukee bench far more formidable than with Hill serving as the backup floor general.

Unlike the other two names on this list, Schroder may not remember his time with Budenholzer quite as fondly. The two reportedly butted heads time and time again, which once resulted in a benching for Schroder after he got into a disagreement with Howard. Despite that, perhaps the two could be willing to put their past differences to the side if it were for the betterment of the team. Many years have passed since the two were paired together, so perhaps they are willing to let bygones be bygones. Schroder could clearly help the Bucks if he were brought in, and he may not command a lot on the open market, which would make things even better for Milwaukee.
