Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Christian Koloko – Outlook

Christian Koloko is an intriguing prospect for the Bucks with his rapid improvement and potential as a versatile defensive big. He could be a very good defender who can protect the rim with his size, but also switch onto guards and wings at times and hold his own. He projects to be more switchable than some of the centers going above him in the draft.

Obviously the negatives about Koloko to the Bucks would be that he isn’t likely to provide a ton offensively, and his inability to really space the floor makes it unlikely he can be super effective with Giannis. On top of that, he is still raw and needs time to develop completely, and the Bucks may want someone who can help them more right now.

I wouldn’t completely hate the Bucks drafting Koloko because I like his potential as a versatile defender at center and there are signs that he could maybe develop an outside shot down the road. If those things both pan out, he could be a nice big for the Bucks. However, the risk to me is not worth the reward for Milwaukee, as he still needs time to develop and it doesn’t seem likely that he will ever be the floor-spacing big that is required around Giannis. The Bucks should probably take a more polished prospect who is a better offensive fit, but maybe they believe in Koloko’s potential and want to take a swing on him to be their next big.
