Fans and players all have grown to respect and appreciate the role that Portis has played in Milwaukee becoming a championship team over the last couple of seasons. No matter what you think of Bobby Portis, one thing that you can’t deny is that he has a championship heart. Any time you see Portis step on a basketball court, you know that what you’re getting is his all. If there’s a loose ball, you can surely expect Portis to be going for it.
The relentless hustle of Portis is appreciated by Bucks fans. When he shows his determination, he has a tendency to fire up Fiserv Forum. Even when he doesn’t come away with the ball, any effort play that Portis tries to make will be appreciated by the fans. Oftentimes, fans will chant his name. Other times, everyone will get on their feet and they will be some of the loudest moments of the entire game.
Portis’ energy is a motivator to the entire team. When crowds are into the game, teams usually play their best and Portis is someone that can easily get the crowd involved. I think back to when I was in the Deer District last summer and any time Portis would do something, the place would erupt. I can’t even imagine what it would’ve been like to have actually been inside of Fiserv Forum after seeing what the scene was like outside. It was certainly noticeable that Portis was a favorite of the fans.
Fan favorites are important to keep around. They will always be around to rally the fans and rally the team. Teams feed off of the energy provided by players like Portis. Those are the guys that you can’t afford to lose.
