Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Bryce McGowens – Outlook

Bryce McGowens is a tantalizing prospect for many teams because of his upside. He has the physical tools and athleticism to become a really good scorer, and as a result many teams want to buy in on that potential. The Bucks could draft him and hope he pans out in a few years to really be a reliable scoring option.

The problem is that McGowens hasn’t actually shown much in terms of results, and he really needs to polish up his game on both ends. He is unproven as a shooter and scorer, and his defense is very bad currently. The potential is there, but this is a pick that the Bucks would need to be patient with, and there is a chance McGowens doesn’t become very good simply because he struggles passing and defending.

McGowens is someone I would avoid if I were the Bucks. I personally don’t buy into the hype around him, because at best I see him becoming someone who can score decently well but provides basically nothing else. Combine his lackluster production in college with the low likelihood that he can be a productive player in the playoffs right now, and I hope the Bucks look elsewhere with their draft pick.

Grade for Bucks: D+
