Milwaukee Bucks: 3 low-risk, high-reward free agents to pursue

3. Isaiah Hartenstein

As an up-and-coming producer, Isaiah Hartenstein could be a sleeper target for the Milwaukee Bucks during free agency this year. Hartenstein is a physical 7-foot center that’s only 24 years old and coming off a breakout season.

While playing for the LA Clippers last season, the big man averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks through just 17.9 minutes per game. Additionally, he shot the ball at an efficient rate by shooting 62.6 percent from the floor and a career-high 46.7 percent from behind the arc.

Hartenstein continues to grow offensively, and his defense is good enough to earn him a consistent role and meaningful minutes on a contender’s rotation. A center isn’t necessarily the largest need for the Bucks, but Hartenstein would be an enticing option that could provide impactful minutes off the bench, reliable frontcourt depth, and insurance for 34-year-old Brook Lopez.

Isaiah Hartenstein could be looking for a pay raise after earning just $1.7 million last year and there will likely be other teams willing to offer more than what the Bucks would propose to him. However, if Hartenstein values an opportunity at competing for a title and prefers Milwaukee in free agency, the Bucks could use part of their taxpayer mid-level exception to sign him and he’d certainly have the chance to become a rewarding addition.
