Alec Burks could be a trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks

Although their stint together was brief, Grayson Allen and Alec Burks were teammates with the Utah Jazz before the latter was traded mid-season in 2018-19. While Burks is not the flashiest name potentially on the trade market, he could be an intriguing target for the Milwaukee Bucks.

It was evident throughout Milwaukee’s recent playoff run and most of the regular season that they need to target a reliable backup off the bench this offseason. While the George Hill signing had initial promise, the guard looked like a shell of himself throughout 2021-22, and the Bucks must look to upgrade this offseason. Swapping Hill with Burks would be a quality move by the Bucks, giving them a 6-foot-6 wing that has proven to be a reliable scorer throughout his career, as he has averaged 10.6 points while sinking 38 percent of his 3-pointers. Numbers like that could be the perfect answer to Milwaukee’s lack of consistent bench scoring this past season.

Despite how prominent of a role Burks just played with the New York Knicks this past season, there were rumors swirling that he is available. Doyle Rader of Forbes recently noted that the team attempted to move Burks at the trade deadline to clear cap space this summer, so it is possible he will be available again this offseason. If the Bucks can scrounge up a trade package that allows them to absorb the 30-year-old’s $10 million salary for next season, they should at least consider making a move to bolster their guard depth and give them another ball handler.
