Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Nikola Jovic – Weaknesses

Shooting Efficiency

Nikola Jovic’s shooting percentages are not great, as he shot just 31.5 percent from three according to Tankathon and had an effective field goal percentage of 49.2 percent, both poor numbers. He has not proven that he can consistently knock down outside shots and be a reliable threat. That’s not to say he has no ability to hit shots, he just hasn’t done it consistently.

Finishing

Jovic does not have a ton of pop or athleticism, and he isn’t the strongest or most physical player. As a result, he can have issues finishing at the rim. He is good at getting into the paint, but not yet an elite finisher once he gets there. He also does not have a very good post game or array of moves, so he will need to figure out ways to finish off drives and improve as a scorer down low.

Defense

Although he has potential due to his size and fluidity, Jovic is not a very good defender currently. His effort is not always there, and he can get sloppy and sluggish with his technique. He definitely has to improve his fundamentals and attention to detail on that end. Combine that with his lack of great strength and athleticism, and you have a guy who has tons of work to do on defense. He should not be expected to be a good defensive player his first few years.
