Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Kendall Brown – Weaknesses

Unproven Shooter

Kendall Brown is capable of hitting threes and shot a solid 34.1 percent from three last year, but it came on low volume and he has not proven that he can be a reliable shooter. In the half court, he shot just 26.3 percent on all jumpers, 29,4 percent off the catch-and-shoot, and 25 percent on dribble jumpers. On spot up catch-and-shoot threes, he shot just 28.1 percent. He can be reluctant to shoot and tends to want to drive or pass instead. To really unlock his offensive game, Brown will need to develop a more consistent outside shot.

Defensive Consistency

Although he has moments as a nice defender, Brown is not always locked in on that end. There are possessions he loses focus or is not engaged. At times he can look like he doesn’t care and not even really get into position. He also too often gets beat back door because he loses focus off the ball.

Offensive Creation

There have been plenty of games where Brown disappeared offensively, as he had eight games with five or fewer points. He really is not a primary ball handler and lacks playmaking, shooting, and shot creation ability. This can make him easy to stop in the half court, since most of his offense is coming from slashes or offensive boards. Without a good jumper or some perimeter creation ability, his upside is limited. Right now he needs to have other ball handlers around him so that he doesn’t need to do too much offensively.
