Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Wendell Moore Jr. – Weaknesses
Athleticism/Explosiveness
Wendell Moore Jr.’s upside may be capped a bit because he does not have explosiveness or elite athleticism. He doesn’t have a great first step and can struggle to get around players and get to the rim consistently. Moore definitely relies more on length and control rather than athleticism or bounce, and he may have some struggles finishing against NBA-level athletes. He is a below-average one-on-one scorer, and relies more on screens, spot up threes, and transition for his offense. He struggled in his first couple seasons at Duke transitioning to the college level, and the same may happen for him when he transitions to the NBA.
Shooting Questions
Although his shooting numbers have improved rapidly, there are questions about just how legit Moore’s shot is. He shot just 28.3 percent from three in his first two seasons at Duke, so teams may be wondering if they can trust the one season of stellar play they saw from him last year. He still hesitates to take some pull-up jumpers when the defense sags off of him in the pick-and-roll, and he is more of a catch-and-shoot guy right now. The efficiency was there last season for him, but nobody really knows how it will translate to the next level.
