The pros of the Milwaukee Bucks bringing back Robin Lopez in free agency

Despite his athletic limitations, there are some positives that Robin Lopez could bring to the team. Lopez is somebody that has ties to the current Bucks team and was a great locker room presence during his initial tenure.

Fans may remember the pregame wrestling stunts that Lopez would do with his Bucks teammates and sometimes even involve mascots of other teams. One teammate in particular was Wesley Matthews. If the Bucks bring back both Lopez and Matthews, maybe the duo can pick up where they left off with their wrestling skits, which was always fun for the locker room.

Lopez brings the Bucks an amazing hook shot that feels like it never misses. We saw Lopez dominate the paint area during his first tenure in Milwaukee, where he was able to shoot 57.7 percent on two-point shots. The low post hook shot was even more effective for Lopez, as he shot 68.4 percent on shots from zero-to-three feet during his 2019-2020 season with the team.

In spite of the Bucks being a team that relies on shooting from the outside, Lopez’s low post ability must not be overlooked. Depending on whether or not Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the floor, Lopez’s hook shot could be deadly for a defense. When Antetokounmpo is off of the floor, Lopez would be able to keep providing the team with paint production, even when paired with perimeter shooters.
