Kemba Walker could be a trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason

It was a frustrating season for Kemba Walker and the New York Knicks this year as the veteran guard appeared in just 37 contests before he was taken out of the rotation. As first reported by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Walker’s representatives and the Knicks will work on trade scenarios this offseason, and the Milwaukee Bucks could be an interesting partner as they look to upgrade at the backup point guard position.

While Walker may not be 20 point scorer and four-time All-Star that he once was due to a string of injuries, he can still be a serviceable player in this league. His days of being a hefty minutes starter are likely over, but if Walker is willing to potentially transition to a full-time bench role, similarly to how fellow Knick Derrick Rose has done in recent memory after he was bombarded with countless injuries over the years, he could be a great fit for a team such as the Bucks.

Even in the least productive season of his career this past season, the guard put up 11.6 points and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 36.7 percent from three on 5.4 attempts on average. In a lesser role, Walker could potentially give the Bucks a spark offensively off the bench while serving as a household name behind Jrue Holiday at the position. Though Walker’s injuries may make some hesitant to consider trading for him, it could be worth the gamble if it helps fix one of the team’s most notable flaws.

On the books for an expiring $9.2 million next season, Walker would not be the most challenging trade target for the Bucks to explore. Furthermore, if the Knicks are looking to move on from him, acquiring him would not cost the franchise a lot, in all likelihood, which gives the Bucks even more incentive to kick the tires on bringing him in.
