Milwaukee Bucks: 3 combo guard free agents to pursue this offseason – 2. Tyus Jones

Secondly, Tyus Jones would be a buzzing free agent addition to the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason. After a successful stint with the Memphis Grizzlies under coach Taylor Jenkins, Mike Budenholzer’s former assistant, Jones could leave for a new setting.

The 26-year-old guard averaged 8.7 points, 4.4 assists, and 0.9 steals per game on 45.1 percent shooting and 39.0 percent from 3-point land in the Grizzlies’ backup point guard role last season. He’s a reliable playmaker, efficient 3-point shooter, and good enough defender that the Bucks would value in a similar role if the former Duke star came to Milwaukee.

Jones could relish the opportunity to be the backup point guard on a true title contender like the Bucks while playing in a similar system to Jenkins’ tactics in Memphis. While the Bucks could tempt him with that proposition, Jones could also be interested in reuniting with former Duke teammate Grayson Allen in Milwaukee.

Other teams will likely be able to offer Tyus Jones more annual salary than what the Milwaukee Bucks can put on the table during free agency, but there could easily be mutual interest between the 2021 NBA champions and Jones given the fit and opportunity.
