No. 3 – MarJon Beauchamp could be a quality contributor from day one for the Milwaukee Bucks during his rookie season

If the Milwaukee Bucks kept their pick in the draft, it was obvious that they needed to get a player that could come in and contribute immediately. After all, this was a rare opportunity to add a piece through the draft to give Milwaukee youth while also patching up one of their current roster flaws, and they did by adding a versatile defensive-minded wing. Though Beauchamp’s game is far from perfect at this stage, he has the potential to be an immediate contributor to the Milwaukee Bucks.

As highlighted previously, the forward will make a fine addition to this defense by giving them yet another strong, switchable, and versatile defender. When the Bucks face off against a taller wing such as Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, or Paul George, among others, Beauchamp could be inserted with the assignment of pestering them. When Budenholzer opts to go to a small ball lineup with Giannis Antetokounmpo at center, Beauchamp could make his way onto the floor due to his frame and ability to guard several positions. The 21-year-old simply fits well with the team defensively.

If the Milwaukee Bucks opt to not retain Wesley Matthews, MarJon Beauchamp could look to insert himself into the role Matthews played after joining the Bucks. Beauchamp could find his way to the court by playing hounding on ball defense.

The concerns regarding Beauchamp’s fit with the Bucks stem from the offensive side of the ball. While he was solid during his lone season with the G-League Ignite by averaging 15.1 points per game, he was a lackluster 3-point shooter, having hit 24.2 percent of his triples on an average of 2.8 attempts. Given how much the Bucks rely on their outside shooting and how much a lack of it plagued them in the 2022 postseason, Beauchamp’s subpar shooting was the most prominent reason why fans were skeptical of the pick at first. There is certainly room to grow in that regard, but due to that relentless work ethic of his, Beauchamp has the tools to become a better shooter. If he does indeed improve that aspect of his game and can become somewhat reliable from the outside, the forward could become a lethal two-way wing for the Bucks for many years to come.
