Burning free agency questions for the Milwaukee Bucks: Where can the Bucks add depth to the roster?

While it stands now, the Milwaukee Bucks have a roster that can contend for another championship, depth is always necessary, the Bucks dealt with a slew of injuries last season, during the regular season and postseason, testing their depth, which ultimately showed as an Achilles’ heel during the Celtics series. The Bucks don’t necessarily need to rule out adding depth at any position, however any depth the team looks to add will likely need to be very cost efficient.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a mid level exception worth $6.4 million, while they can use this on multiple players, they can also sign players for the veteran minimum. Ricky Rubio is a name mentioned on the first slide, would likely take the entire MLE. However there are a few options the Bucks could look at to potentially grab one or two to help bolster the roster.

One name that could help the shooting guard position is Gary Harris, Harris averages over 11 points per game for his career while shooting a very respectable 36.3 percent behind the 3-point line for his career, which has been spent with the Denver Nuggets and Orlando Magic. Perhaps Harris could be talked into a discount to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo on a title contending team.

Another solid 3-point shooter could be Otto Porter Jr., fresh off his championship winning season with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors can only offer Porter a maximum of less than $3 million to return, if the Bucks offer Porter their MLE or even a portion of it, Porter could keep his hopes of winning another ring alive and bring his career 39.8 3-point percentage to Milwaukee and give the Bucks some sizable (Porter is 6’8) depth on the wing.

One more potential option could be Victor Oladipo, who just turned 30 and is coming off a very short regular season and a postseason which he struggled to do much of note. That being said, Oladipo is a former two time All-Star with postseason experience, if he could be convinced to try proving his value and get one more big contract next summer, playing the 2022-23 season alongside Milwaukee’s big three and have a chance to win his first ring sounds like a good consolation to taking a pay cut for one season.
