Could the Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs be trade partners: Who would be the best fit?
As previously mentioned, Josh Richardson would be the least likely to be of interest to the Milwaukee Bucks, attainable but not necessarily desirable.
Doug McDermott on the other hand, could be a viable option and is a very good shooter under team control for the next two seasons. McDermott is 30 years old and Grayson Allen won’t hit 27 until October, but the Bucks are in win-now mode and may not care about age, as evidenced by their signing of Joe Ingles.
On the last slide I mentioned the similar stats between McDermott and Grayson Allen, the two were very close in points, 11.3 from McDermott, 11.1 from Allen. The two are nearly identical in assists, turnovers and fouls, Allen held a 1.1 advantage in rebounds and a .4 advantage in steals. Grayson Allen was the better free throw shooter by eight percent but Doug McDermott shot two percent better behind the 3-point line than Grayson Allen who’s 40.9 percent behind the arc in 2021-22 was a career high.
It is also worth noting that Grayson Allen is 6’4″ and Doug McDermott is 6’7″. It would be up to Jon Horst if he would prefer the youth of Allen or the size and experience of McDermott to determine if a deal involving the two shooters would make sense.
