The Milwaukee Bucks recently unveiled their new “Fear the Deer” statement edition uniforms for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. The new uniform is the third edition of the “Fear the Deer” series, which began in 2015.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ “Fear the Deer” team slogan has skyrocketed in popularity since being introduced in 2015. It is very catchy and has become of of the more popular and recognizable slogans throughout the NBA.
The slogan has even been incorporated in each of the teams statement edition uniforms introduced the past three seasons. It is sewn into the bottom left corner of this new statement jersey.
The general consensus amongst Milwaukee Bucks fans initially is that the new edition uniform look is sleek, compelling and very sharp. The new all black jersey and shorts feature antlers running up the sides of each.
Don’t get me wrong. The Milwaukee Bucks have not reinvented the wheel with this new uniform release. The look is not overly new and revolutionary by any means, but it is a somewhat familiar and very cool design.
The antler look running up the sides of the jersey and shorts resembles a buck with its head down charging towards an object or opponent. These new uniforms are essentially the same and very similar to the statement edition uniforms from two seasons ago, except for the color change from green to black.
While those uniforms were all green and cream, these beauties feature an all black base look with cream letters, numbers and antlers. The new edition includes a green outline on the names and numbers, as well as a blue outline on the arms and neck of the jersey.
The blue color represents Lake Michigan, the cream color represents Wisconsin dairy farms and the green represents the rich history of the Milwaukee Bucks’ uniforms. As a result, no local fans from Wisconsin should have any reason to feel left out and should feel proudly represented.
All of the colors depicted in this new statement edition uniform reiterate an already intimidating look, specifically when the Bucks wear black. All Bucks fans worldwide will always remember them winning game six of the NBA finals in 2021 donning the all black alternate jerseys and uniforms.
The antlers should be a permanent thing and look on the jerseys and shorts moving forward and into the future when the team decides to do a rebranding of their uniforms and logo. They bring the look of an actual buck/deer out of the woods and onto the hardwood. The antlers are also a refreshing change from the basic vertical and horizontal stripes that the Bucks and entire NBA have adopted for nearly its entire history.
The big three – Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday – already look intimidating as it is in the black alternate jerseys. These new black statement edition uniforms will augment this intimidation that much more.
It’s fairly elementary. New black jerseys and uniforms will result in another championship for the 2022-2023 season. There is something about these that really scream a second NBA title in three years.
