3 2022 NBA lottery picks Bucks rookie MarJon Beauchamp is outplaying
MarJon Beauchamp was the 24th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bucks’ first first round pick since Donte DiVincenzo in 2019. MarJon has carved out a decent role with the Bucks this season after showing his potential early in the season. Since returning from an illness that kept him out for a handful of games, Beauchamp has continued showing his potential.
The 2022-23 NBA season is just about halfway complete. With that said, let’s look at three lottery picks that MarJon Beauchamp is currently outplaying so far this season.
Lottery picks that Milwaukee Bucks rookie MarJon Beauchamp is currently outplaying: #10 Johnny Davis
This one pains me as a Wisconsin sports fan, Johnny Davis was fantastic at Wisconsin and his 2021-22 college season was fun to watch. However, despite being drafted tenth overall, Davis’ rookie season has been very, very quiet.
Johnny Davis has appeared in just 10 games for the Washington Wizards and has been in the G-League. Davis hasn’t played double-digit minutes in any games this season and his stats show it. Davis is averaging just 1.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Compare Davis to MarJon Beauchamp and there is really no contest in who has been better for their team. Beauchamp is averaging 6.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.5 steals.
Efficiency doesn’t make a great case for Davis over Beauchamp either. Davis’ shooting numbers are quite low and he hasn’t played enough to improve them. Davis in his rookie season is shooting 30.8 percent from the field, 0.0 percent from the 3-point line and 1.000 from the free throw line. Compared to Beauchamp who is shooting 41.6 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from the 3-point line and 72.0 percent from the free throw line.
The Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks have faced each other twice so far this season, Johnny Davis did not play in either, so there are no head-to-head comparisons. Beauchamp has definitely outperformed Johnny Davis.
