The Milwaukee Bucks took 48 threes in their loss to the Miami Heat

After taking 57 threes in Thursday night’s game, Milwaukee took 48 threes in Saturday afternoon’s game. The Bucks made three fewer threes in Saturday’s matchup (19-of-48) than in Thursday’s game (22-of-57). Milwaukee isn’t a strong 3-point shooting team – currently, they are shooting 34.7 percent from three – and in the games in which Giannis hasn’t played, they are taking 43.8 3-point attempts and hitting 37.1 of their 3-point shots, per StatMuse.

Milwaukee isn’t built to beat you from three. Sure, Head Coach Mike Budenholzer wants the team to take a lot of 3-point shots. Yet, with this current roster not being great 3-point shooters, Milwaukee should shoot more from the mid-range at least until Khris Middleton comes back because shooting 40 to 50 threes isn’t a good strategy and won’t equate to wins.

In Saturday’s game, Pat Connaughton went 4-of-10 from three, and Grayson Allen and A.J. Green both went 3-of-6 from three. If Milwaukee wants to be a stronger 3-point shooting team, they should add another three-point marksman before the deadline. If this team wants to launch a lot of threes per game, Milwaukee needs to get a player who they can rely on to consistently make 3-point shots because the current role players haven’t done a good enough job in that area this season.
