The 2023 NBA Trade Deadline is officially now just one day away, and the Milwaukee Bucks have been mentioned in no shortage of rumors. There is no shortage of directions this team could go in, so without wasting any more time, let us drive straight into the rumors.

The Milwaukee Bucks have abruptly expressed interest in a former MVP

All was quiet Wednesday night when a veteran NBA insider revealed an interesting new name to add to Milwaukee’s wishlist. Per Marc Stein, the Bucks have registered interest in Derrick Rose of the New York Knicks ahead of the deadline. The Knicks have made it clear that they are willing to trade Rose, given that he has not been in their rotation for quite some time. In an effort to add some guard depth, the Bucks could potentially land a former MVP.

On the surface, Milwaukee’s interest in Rose makes some sense. There have been times in recent memory when the Bucks have lacked a second unit spark, and Rose could help with that. Over the past five seasons, he has averaged 14.9 points and 4.2 assists per game. The former MVP would give the Bucks another experienced guard who could give Jrue Holiday a breather from the point guard duties from time to time. Rose would not be a perfect fit, as his outside shooting has been suspect throughout his career, and his defense is not great, but the potential is there offensively.

Where things get complicated in any deal for Rose is the trade package. The Bucks would almost certainly have to include Grayson Allen in any deal, and there is bound to be debate about whether or not that would make any sense. Milwaukee’s interest in Rose raises plenty of questions.
