3 Milwaukee Bucks who need to dial in before the 2023 NBA Playoffs- Bobby Portis

Sorry, people. I don’t mean to criticize the Mayor of Milwaukee, but hear me out.

Bobby Portis missed a month with a sprained MCL and with that, his impact on Milwaukee isn’t as great as it was last year.

His scoring numbers have taken a slight dip, and it’s fair to question how much he would be averaging if he didn’t go out because he was on his way to a career year.

The other concern for Portis is he hasn’t shot well from three this season. A career 37 percent 3-point shooter, his percentage has dipped down to 34 percent this season. Portis last season shot 39 percent from three, so this has been a down year shooting from three for him.

However, Portis is still providing defensive tenacity, and his high-energy play has been one of the reasons why Milwaukee has been an NBA championship contender every year since Portis got there in 2020.

Portis’ rebounding stats haven’t taken a hit, as he is second on the team in rebounds with 9.5 per game. He is known as a tireless worker on the defensive end and has a Pat Connaughton-similar impact to the Bucks, where they don’t need to score to help Milwaukee win because both of them do all the dirty work such as rebounds, deflections, tip-outs things that the average fan might not notice but things like that are important to help a team win.
