Milwaukee Bucks free agent target No. 5 – A.J. Green

The Milwaukee Bucks may have something intriguing on their hands in A.J. Green. After signing as an undrafted free agent last year, Green quickly proved to be a quality piece for Milwaukee, even if he was not a consistent rotation player. Now, after spending last season on a two-way, he will hit free agency, and the Milwaukee Bucks should not let him walk out of the door.

Green’s most captivating attribute is his long-range shooting. He was a strong shooter in college and translated that marksmanship to the NBA, having sunk 41.9 percent of his triples as a rookie. He’s already one of the best shooters on the team, and they would be wise to take advantage of it next season. If the team will utilize nonshooters like Jackson and Livingston, it would make sense to pair them with an outside shooter like Green; this is a similar approach to what the Bucks have done over the past few years with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 23-year-old undeniably has what it takes to be a rotational player in this league. Sure, he’s not the most athletic or the sturdiest defender, but he can outright shoot the lights out from deep. The Bucks may have a special undrafted talent on their hands, and they should bring him back, even if they have to hand him a standard roster spot. They’d be foolish not to keep him around after the glimpses of potential he showed.
