Milwaukee Bucks trade for a former MVP in James Harden

Submitted by @MVPortis

James Harden wants out of Philadelphia. The former MVP made it clear that he wants a change of scenery after opting into his player option for next season. The LA Clippers are Harden’s top choice right now, but this trade would see the Milwaukee Bucks swoop in and make an offer.

The appeal with Harden is understandable. Alongside Antetokounmpo and Middleton, the guard’s presence would form a formidable offensive trio. Harden would bring a tremendous dose of both scoring and playmaking. De’Anthony Melton cannot be forgotten about here as well, as he would be more than just a throw-in. He’d be a nice backup point guard who could take on ball-handling duties at times while also playing tough defensive nightly.

While it makes sense, it’s not enough sense that the Bucks would likely do it. Harden has made it clear that he wants to go to the Clippers. Would Milwaukee gut all of their remaining draft capital and trade away two starters for what would likely be a one-year rental in Harden and a solid guard in Melton? It would certainly be quite the gamble. There’s also the lingering notion that Harden and Antetokounmpo have some beef from a few years back that cannot be entirely ignored.
