3 Non-health related questions for the Bucks heading into the 2024-25 season
Question 3: Can the Bucks generate more turnovers?
Milwaukee was tied for last in turnovers forced last season after finishing dead last in 2022-23. Now, in the 2022 season, this was more acceptable, given that they had better perimeter defense and could force more stops even without forcing turnovers.
But now, the Milwaukee Bucks do not really have the personnel to consistently force stops if they are still at the bottom in turnovers forced. This number needs to go up.
Well, the Bucks appear to know this, as they acquired two guards in Gary Trent Jr. and Delon Wright who thrive at forcing turnovers. Since 2020, both players rank in the top 20 in steals among all players, with Trent ranking 11th and Wright ranking 18th.
Both Trent and Wright averaged over a steal per game last season, something that no Buck besides Giannis, Jrue Holiday or Khris Middleton has done in the last four years. Having role players who can force turnovers is not something the Bucks have had in recent memory.
Generating steals will then, in turn, help create more fast break opportunities for Giannis, helping the Milwaukee Bucks' offense as well.
It's a smaller thing that not many people talk about or notice, but forcing more turnovers is a key area for this Milwaukee Bucks team, and Jon Horst seems to agree when you look at the players he signed this offseason.
