Grade the Trade: Milwaukee Bucks add sharpshooter in mock trade with Detroit Pistons
By Corey Moen
Milwaukee's perspective on this trade with the Pistons
You can never have too many shooters, especially come playoff time. Milwaukee's bench unit could use a shakeup, as the bench has struggled to consistently add another element to the Bucks.
Bobby Portis is great, but who outside of him is chipping in 15-20 points coming off the bench? Nobody, and that's why Milwaukee has had to rely on Giannis, Khris Middleton, and Damian Lillard to carry the bulk of the scoring load because the bench simply has trouble scoring.
This year, there has been a significant drop-off in production from the starting lineup to the bench. The addition of Alec Burks would not only infuse life into this bench unit but would net Milwaukee another consistent outside shooter.
Outside shooting has been the biggest issue why Milwaukee has fallen short the past couple of years, and getting a player like Alec Burks would immediately fix that problem. Burks, throughout his career, has been a good player on bad teams and hasn't been a part of a winning culture.
Jon Horst is known for being aggressive at the deadline, and the options are limited for adding a premium player, so Milwaukee's best bet is to add a high-volume 40 percent shooter.
