4 Things to watch for in Milwaukee Bucks training camp following Media Day
AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith's development
One eye-catching answer that Doc Rivers gave on the Milwaukee Bucks' summer roster changes was that he believes AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith can be good NBA players for a long time and that they will have the chance to get some minutes with the Bucks this year.
So, starting in training camp, it will be interesting to hear how their first competition against other NBA players, not just summer league players, goes. AJ Johnson was a surprising draft pick when the Bucks made their first-round selection back in June, but he showed a ton of potential during summer league.
On paper, he looks to be the third point guard behind Damian Lillard and new veteran Delon Wright. It will be interesting to hear about how he does in training camp and preseason games.
Similarly, with Tyler Smith, can he crack the rotation of the Bucks' big men? Obviously, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez will play a lion's share of minutes at the power forward and center positions, but can Tyler Smith sneak in and get some minutes in his rookie year? Smith showed the ability to do some of the things that Bobby Portis does when it comes to spacing the floor. Let's watch to see if those things continue in training camp and preseason.
