4 Things to watch for in Milwaukee Bucks training camp following Media Day
What a normal off-season looks like
Doc Rivers talked about it, Jon Horst talked about it and Damian Lillard talked about it; last season was very abnormal in multiple ways, starting with Damian Lillard's offseason and eventual arrival as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Damian Lillard did not spend his summer the way he normally would have. While awaiting a trade, he was not working out in an NBA facility with other NBA players or his eventual teammates. Then he gets traded to Milwaukee just days before training camp begins.
Damian Lillard also dealt with a lot of off the court issues in his personal life. The Milwaukee Bucks as a team then went through a coaching change in January, going from Adrian Griffin to Doc Rivers and having changes happening on the fly.
This offseason, Damian Lillard knows where he's playing, has sorted out his off-court issues and offered very encouraging words on the version of himself the Bucks are getting this year. Also, the Bucks are almost completely healthy, and Rivers is taking the team out of Milwaukee for camp, which is certainly interesting.
Doc Rivers said he made the decision very early in his tenure to take the team out of Milwaukee and go away for training camp, forcing the players to spend more time with each other rather than leaving practice and going their separate ways back to their homes. There is something to be said for the potential chemistry-building that can be going on over the next several weeks.
