Despite signing Gary Trent Jr. with their final roster spot, it appears the Milwaukee Bucks might not be done tweaking their personnel just yet.

Per The Athletic NBA insider Shams Charania, the Bucks conducted a workout in Las Vegas to get a better look at several veterans. The list was highlighted by two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas but also featured Justise Winslow, Hamidou Diallo, Will Barton and Jaylen Nowell. Some names are far more recognizable than others, but it is an interesting collection of players.

It must be noted that Charania (subscription required) had reported prior to the Trent signing that this workout was happening, so the Bucks had a roster spot open when it was announced. Obviously, the spot has now been filled, so perhaps the front office was just following through and seeing what this group had. Or perhaps they truly want to keep tweaking things.

Could the Milwaukee Bucks sign any of these players?

At the moment, the Bucks have no roster spots. To make room for one of these players, the obvious avenue would be to make a trade to free up a spot. In that case, Pat Connaughton seems to be the likeliest Buck to be moved, given that they just signed Trent for the minimum and have a handful of other two-guards, such as Andre Jackson Jr. and AJ Green, on far cheaper deals.

If the Bucks found a way to shed Connaughton's salary and open a roster spot, it wouldn't be overly surprising if they added one of these names. In terms of fit, none of them are the clear-cut option if the Bucks were to decide among them. It's interesting to see not a single big man among the bunch, as that's the spot where the Milwaukee Bucks could really use another body for depth purposes.

While he's not a big man, it's also surprising to see John Wall's name not among those in attendance. Wall, who's in Las Vegas after recently being spotted at NBA Summer League, has been pleading for a comeback lately, and he'd have been the best name among the attendees. Even if he's not the same player he was years ago, Wall would still give the Bucks another experienced, battle-tested guard.

For now, all fans can do is wait. If one of these players impressed enough, the front office could make a move to clear room for them. If not, the Bucks could keep their roster intact and perhaps call one of these players at a later date during the season if they need depth, similar to what they did with guard Wesley Matthews in 2021, bringing him aboard mid-season on a non-guaranteed contract.

Charania mentions that these players could earn training camp deals, which would not require the Bucks to make room for them, so that is also something to keep in mind. Ultimately, it feels like the Bucks may just be doing homework after filling the roster.
