Bucks Around The Web: Sleeved Jerseys On The Way?

As much as we try to cover as much of the news that breaks involving the Milwaukee Bucks in any given week, sometimes there are stories that we just don’t get the chance to share or comment on.

As a result, I thought it would be a good idea to start compiling a list of some of the best Bucks news, analysis and other interesting snippets from around the internet.

This will ensure that you don’t miss out on anything during your (hopefully) regular visits to Behind The Buck Pass, while also highlighting others who consistently produce some of the best and most thought-provoking content on the team across the internet.

We’ll start out this week by checking out the work of the guys over at Slam.

First off, Slam weighed in, as many others have done, to praise the Bucks logo and uniform re-design. In fact, in his piece, Brad Graham goes as far as to say:

"Yet of all the new emblems to surface during Adam Silver’s epoch, the Bucks’ reboot is by far the most elegant."

Most interestingly of all though was a quote from Doubleday and Cartwright, the creative agency that the owners enlisted to overhaul the team’s identity.

"After the D&C team solved their primary logo puzzle (Meyer says the deer head was built like Frankenstein’s monster), they developed the team’s home, away, alternate and pride (t-shirt) uniforms. “There’s a huge difference between designing for print or web versus designing for garments,” Meyer says, “but because the team already knew how to create t-shirts and jersey patches, we were well equipped to produce the Bucks’ uniforms.”"

Of course, we are all expecting and eagerly awaiting news of the Bucks alternate jerseys, but the news that the team will have sleeved pride uniforms also is an exciting development.

Bucks fans already know just how nice of a guy Jabari Parker is, but Slam also decided to remind everyone just cool he can be this week too. Marcel Mutoni’s post alerted us to this video of Jabari randomly playing street ball with some kids in his native Chicago.

Frankly, any video of Parker with a basketball in his hands is a positive for Bucks fans anyway, but this one says a lot about his personality on top of that.

Our friends at HoopsHabit had a couple of nice mentions for a Bucks team that we all hope to see on the rise this week with two individuals highlighted in particular.

Maxwell Ogden made a list of the top ten candidates with a chance to be first time All-Stars this season, and Greg Monroe slotted in at number six.

"In more ways than not, Monroe projects to be a wonderful fit in Milwaukee. As for the All-Star conversation, Monroe is already a consistent source of 16 and 10. He did that while handicapped by a stylistic mismatch between he and teammate Andre Drummond. With an offense that’s catered more to Monroe’s strengths, he could flirt with 20 and 10 in 2015-16."

Gerald Bourguet also examined players with the potential to have a breakout campaign, and Giannis Antetokounmpo was one of the names he threw into the mix.

"The Greek Freak is coming, and his arrival is going to be glorious in the most monstrous way possible.…It’s only a matter of time before this youngster develops into a franchise player, but will his third season be the one that sees him transform into something spectacular?"

While we’ve been looking at some of the greatest players ever to pull on a Milwaukee jersey for the past few weeks, Sam Amico’s recent list of his favorite Bucks features some of those same names.

Terry Cummings, Michael Redd, Ricky Pierce and Paul Pressey all made the cut, alongside Marques Johnson, who Amico described as having:

"Exemplified utter calmness on the court, yet always seemed to erupt for easy baskets and pinpoint passes."

In more pressing matters, particularly just what kind of impact Greg Monroe will have on Milwaukee’s defense, Matt Moore of CBS Sports has some reassurances for Bucks fans.

Moore feels that not only is Monroe not as bad a defender as often advertised, but furthermore that the Bucks have the perfect combination of talent and players around him to make it work.

"If Monroe can simply improve his awareness and remain physical, that will go a long way in letting the rest of the system do the work for him.Milwaukee did lose Jared Dudley and Zaza Pachulia this summer, which could cost them defensively, but if the rest of the team has adopted the system well enough, and if the coaching can make the most out of what they have, there’s every reason to think the Bucks will be a great defensive team again in 2015."

Be sure to take a closer look at the pieces listed above, and most importantly to check out all of the content we’ve offered up over the past seven days too!
