"You probably didn’t expect to see Wear’s name here but at 6’10” and the ability to hit the 3-point shot Wear fits perfectly in today’s NBA. Imagine a poor man’s Ryan Anderson and that is what Wear provides. Wear averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 48 percent overall and 39 percent from three-point land (6.9 attempts per game). – Chris Reichert"
A stretch four with great size, Wear has seemed pegged for pro basketball success from a long way out, yet it’s still to truly materialize.
Dating back to high school, Wear was a McDonalds All-American, and then along with his twin brother Travis he went on to make a solid impression at UCLA.
That meant it was a little surprising when Wear’s number didn’t get called on Draft night last Summer, but it hasn’t stopped the 24-year-old from working towards his goal.
As his brother landed his opportunity with the New York Knicks, David battled hard in the D-League with the Reno Bighorns, settling in seamlessly in one of the Development League’s most dynamic offenses.
In 43 games with Reno, Wear averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 boards, coupled with solid shooting numbers, as mentioned by Chris above. That was enough to tempt the Sacramento Kings to give Wear a look on a ten-day contract, but after that opportunity went no further, Wear is now ready for his next one.
