BTBP Mock NBA Draft: Editor’s Edition
By Adam McGee
Apr 6, 2015; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Duke Blue Devils center Jahlil Okafor celebrates with fans after defeating the Wisconsin Badgers the 2015 NCAA Men
What The Experts Say:
"He’s one of the strongest freshmen to ever come through college hoops, and he has the excellent hands, pristine, fluid footwork, and soft touch around the rim to match it. This is the kind of interior prospect that teams dream of. – Sam Vecenie, CBS Sports"
What The Player Says:
"I’m just ready. I’m excited about playing at the next level. I’m excited for the draft, and I’m really eager to see where I’m going to end up. – Jahlil Okafor"
What BTBP Says:
Okafor has been arguably been hyped as a superstar for a lot longer than anyone else in this class. Back when teams were still tanking for Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker, it was Okafor who was the name that teams were also dreaming of for the following season.
They might say otherwise (as will some of Kobe Bryant’s fanatical fans), but realistically the Lakers are preparing for life without their Hall of Fame shooting guard and adding Okafor into the front court mix would leave them pretty well set in that regard.
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix sums the situation up just that simply too:
"In Okafor, the Lakers get an NBA-ready center who can score in the post and should be a strong complement to returning power forward Julius Randle."
Another facet of Okafor’s game that he will bring to LA, is his winning ways, as highlighted by Hannah Kulik of Lake Show Life:
"Okafor has been the ultimate winner in high school, in college, and in international competition. I’m willing to place a bet on Okafor continuing his winning ways in the NBA. Towns is likely to be a great player too and if he ends up with the Lakers I will be fine with it. But anyone who sells Okafor short is very likely to be embarrassed, or in denial, by the end of this next season."
