67. . PF. Latvia. Kristaps Porzingis. 6. player

What The Experts Say:

"Porzingis is one of the most unique players in this draft class, showing an impressive combination of height, length, fluidity and skills. He’s very mobile for his size, capable of playing above the rim with ease and able to cover ground quickly moving from the perimeter to the paint. – Jonathan Givony"

What The Player Says:

"With the draft, it’s all exciting. Just coming here, with all the attention, walking down the street and people staring at me and stuff, it’s exciting for me. People want to know me. – Kristaps Porzingis"

What BTBP Says:

You’d be hard pushed to find a more intriguing prospect than Porzingis in this draft. He was projected by many as a top ten prospect in last year’s draft, only to withdraw ten days before the night itself.

Over the last week, Porzingis’ stock has risen so sharply that it would seem impossible for him to slip any further than this too.

Porzingis has a great mix of skills, including a good shooting touch for his size, and the numbers show that he effectively utilized his extra year in Spain to develop even further.

Although his official measurements can be tough to pin down due to his previous lack of appearances at combines and on US soil, his widely estimated weight of 220lbs will be a little on the small side for an NBA seven footer, and as such he will still present some risk.

The Kings seem eager to find a front court mate for DeMarcus Cousins, and if Willie Cauley-Stein is already off the board, their front office does seem like one who would be more than prepared to take a gamble on the Latvian big man.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman sees things the same way too:

"The 19-year-old Latvian forward would give the Kings something they could sorely use: A forward who can step out and make shots. Porzingis played in the Spanish ACB this past year and is extremely skilled. He has size, skill and athleticism, but needs to add strength to his thin frame."

As Kyle Robert of A Royal Pain outlines, it makes every sense that Porzingis would therefore land in Sacramento:

"With the Kings picking at No. 6, there is a good chance he is there to be had. With Vlade Divac’s international influence and the front offices desire for an open offense with shooting he could make a ton of sense."
