Toronto Raptors

Toronto Receives: John Henson, O.J. Mayo, Lottery Protected 2017 First Round Draft Pick

Milwaukee Receives: Kyle Lowry

Why this trade makes sense for Toronto: The Raptors current core is clearly not going to win a title, and adding DeMarre Carroll at the expense of Lou Williams isn’t enough to take this team over the edge. Cory Joseph, who is six years younger than Lowry and was born in Toronto, was just signed and can take over the starting duties for this season. Toronto adds assets they can use to help their rebuild, whether it’s a quick one or a steady process.

Why this trade makes sense for Milwaukee: The Bucks get an All-Star caliber point guard in Lowry, meaning they now have a starting lineup of Lowry/Middleton/Antetokounmpo/Parker/Monroe with Carter-Williams, Vasquez, Pachulia, Vaughn, Bayless and Inglis coming off of the bench. I think the reasoning behind this one is obvious.

There’s no chance this team ends up with a good pick in 2017 anyway if things go as planned, so losing the pick isn’t a huge deal. Vaughn makes Mayo unnecessary, as the Bucks have more than enough guards too. Maybe I can look into dealing some of them in the next Ti’s Trades…
