Will Playing At Home Help The Bucks Opening Night Fortunes?

2010 Opener: New Orleans Hornets

This was a fun mash-up of a few other opening night games–another team called the Hornets, and also another team that doesn’t exist anymore. Alas, much like those other games the Bucks could not manage to pull out a win in this one.

What a surprise that sophomore Brandon Jennings, John Salmons, Carlos Delfino, Drew Gooden and Andrew Bogut weren’t able to pull off more wins. Well not really, as this team kind of stunk. This was yet another 30-something win season for the Bucks under Skiles that ended with missing the playoffs, and just not a very memorable season in general. Or maybe we try to forget it.

This team’s most popular starting five had just one change from the opening night version–Mbah a Mouté would eventually take Gooden’s spot due to injuries and Gooden just ironically not being very good.

This little look back to the past has me so excited that these Bucks look nothing like the ghost of opening nights past, and that Milwaukee is breaking the streak of opening the season on the road. None of those previous teams enjoyed great success–hopefully this small change will be part of a huge change that results in a Bucks team that actually makes some noise in the postseason.
