AM: How do the Hawks re-invent themselves now that teams have a better sense of what they’re all about, or will they even need to?
AS: I don’t think they need to reinvent themselves. They had the sixth best offensive rating and the sixth best defensive rating in the NBA last season, that’s not too shabby.
They just ran into some bad luck and a fella named LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Pace and space, three-pointers, Al Horford going to work down low, Teague/Horford pick and rolls, Teague/Millsap pick and pops and solid defense. That was the recipe for success last season and that should not change.
The addition of Tiago Splitter helps the defense, he brings some much needed rebounding and rim protection.
For the most part they will look the same and that’s a good thing.
