AM: Many felt that this summer was going to be the one in which the Celtics landed some big stars but that didn’t really materialize. How do you feel about the deals that were done, and with a war chest of picks in tow, is everything still going to plan for Danny Ainge?
JB: I think that the deals done this offseason were safe but productive. Amir Johnson and David Lee and now the two most expensive players on the roster but they have more than enough cap room to accommodate them and they will improve the team.
I do believe that Danny Ainge planned on dealing more of his assets this offseason but there is no reason to be worried that he didn’t. The Celtics will certainly have more opportunities at a trade with all the picks they still have and even if they never manage to make a blockbuster trade, it may not be necessary.
The Celtics are in a great position to build from within and through the draft and even if they do not have their super star currently on the roster, they have more than enough picks to find him in the draft.
