AM: How do you envision the season playing out for both Chicago and Milwaukee this year?
MW: If I had to guess, I’d say best-case scenario for the Bulls is the Eastern Conference Finals. I just don’t see them getting over the Cleveland hump if the Cavs are healthy. There’s still a so many questions about the Bulls, so if they even make it that far, I’ll consider Hoiberg’s first season a clear-cut success.
As for Milwaukee, they should scare Bulls fans if they see each other in the playoffs again. They already see them four times a year, so fans should know how good this team is going to be in the future. I don’t think they’re ready to make a “title leap”, but they’ll make a substantial leap in year two with Kidd. If it wasn’t for Mike Budenholzer and Steve Kerr leading 60-win teams last season, Jason Kidd would have been your coach of the year.
You do need a star PG in this league now however, and I don’t think Michael Carter-Williams is that. But, they still have a ton of young talent with a solid mix of veterans to be a sneaky-good playoff team again this year.
AM: Thanks for your time, Michael! I’m sure we’ll talk to you again during the season.
