Reactions: The Good

  • Giannis is genuinely looking like the real deal. With the ball in his hands, he’s got greater control, and for all intents and purposes it’s like he sees the floor better than he has done in the past. Bodies in front of him don’t mean anything any more. He’ll cross them over. He’ll gyro-step past them. He will score. Hey, Gus Johnson proved to us that he knows his name too.
  • It wasn’t all just scoring from Giannis either. When the chips were down, The Greek Freak stood up to stop Jarrett Jack at the rim and effectively finish the game.
  • That wasn’t the only strong defensive play of the night from the Bucks either. Michael Carter-Williams late steal may have stolen the limelight, but the work from two new Bucks on back-to-back sequences was the pick of the bunch. Greivis Vasquez and Greg Monroe may be regularly criticized for their defense, but their double teams first on Jarrett Jack and then on Brook Lopez were reminiscent of Milwaukee’s defense at its best last year.
