Somebody pinch me; I’m in NBA nirvana.
So is every other Milwaukee Bucks fan who stuck with this young team all the way to their sometimes ugly, sometimes glossy, always gritty double overtime 108-105 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Whether it was the electric highlight jams from Jabari Parker, or Giannis Antetokounmpo and Black Hole Bayless sticking with LeBron James in the overtime sessions, this game had something for every basketball fan.
Hell, even Richard Jefferson (yeah, THAT Richard Jefferson), broke loose early in the fourth quarter to bring the Cavs close.
We saw a Greg Monroe/John Henson front-court. (We also saw Greg Monroe go FULL Superman.)
And a Michael Carter-Williams, Jeryyd Bayless, Greivis Vasquez, Khris Middleton, Greg Monroe mishmash lineup of awesome in double overtime.
Both teams delivered 58 minutes of non-stop, full tilt NBA action.
So by the time Greivis Vasquez delivered his cold blooded three in 2OT it felt like there was no roof remaining on the sold out BMO Harris Bradley Center.
It had been blown off long, long before.
Such is the road when you’re a young basketball team. There will be peaks and valleys. As disappointing as the losses against Boston and Denver were, this victory over Cleveland is more than redeeming–it’s vindicating.
YES, this Milwaukee Bucks team is, in fact, good.
Good enough to play with anyone in the league.
