3. Creation of Team

In a list of the greatest moments in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks, how could the creation of the franchise be left out? On January 22, 1968, the NBA awarded a franchise to the city of Milwaukee, and more specifically to investors Wesley D. Pavalon and Marvin L. Fishman.

Those two men became the first president and vice president of the Bucks, respectively. Stock in the franchise was sold to the public a few months later in April of 1968, much as Packer stock is available to fans today.

The Bucks are somewhat unique in that in their entire history, they’ve never switched nicknames or cities. The Bucks are truly Milwaukee’s team–it’s never been any other way, and never will be thanks to Wes Edens, Marc Lasry and the rest of the team’s new ownership group.
