5. How significant is the loss of Greivis Vasquez to the team’s point guard rotation?

AM: He was playing a lot better than many Bucks fans seem to remember just prior to his injury, having recovered from a terrible start. He’s a creative player who could have positively impacted the Bucks in any unit he played in. It’s disappointing.

TW: Really significant. He looked like the only real point guard on this team besides maybe Tyler Ennis, and Ennis can’t shoot. Unless there’s a trade, the point guard spot is going to be easily the weakest link on the Bucks going forward

JT: It’s easy to bring up the picks they lost due to acquiring Vasquez, but I felt like Vasquez could have really opened up in the role that O.J. Mayo has right now. Yes, he had his shooting struggles, but he was quietly effective as a facilitator off the bench. It’s a bummer to lose Vasquez this early into the season, but maybe it can open up a regular role in the rotation for Tyler Ennis because sooner or later, the team needs to see what they potentially have with him.

RF: Significant in that it pushes even more of the second-unit offensive load onto Jerryd Bayless, but let’s be honest, before the latest string of DNPs and now the announcement of his surgery, Vasquez was quite abysmal. He was supposed to be a three point specialist and ended up shooting ~24.5% from beyond the arc (34.2% overall), On-Off ratings wise, he boosts the offense a bit (98.6 off and 101.0 on), but he didn’t bring much at all on defense (104.3 off, 108.4 on). Overall, the team wasn’t living or dying on Vasquez’s presence, and there isn’t much pointing to that changing throughout the season.
