Monroe’s Fit In New Orleans

This is actually a weird question to answer. The Pelicans seem dead set on putting a low post center next to Anthony Davis, so he can showcase his range and not have to spend time banging bodies down there.

I’ve always thought Davis would be a fantastic small-ball center, and that New Orleans should run with him and some shooters to stretch the floor on offense.

So in my opinion, Moose is not a great fit with the Pelicans. But since New Orleans is the one doing the trade, their opinion is probably more important. And they want to bring the Louisiana native home.

The Pelicans likely want a real center to do that dirty work in the paint so Davis doesn’t have to put that extra strain on his body. The Brow has struggled with injury problems since entering the NBA, and thus that idea does have some solid reasoning behind it.

In that sense, Greg Monroe fits perfectly in New Orleans. He could also take some of the offensive strain off of Davis’ shoulders, again lightening his load.

So considering everything the Pelicans do has to be centered around Anthony Davis, Monroe would fit well here. Both he and Davis are good passers, meaning New Orleans would have a strong motion offense with them both under Alvin Gentry.
