Throughout the first two days of 2023 NBA Free Agency, the Milwaukee Bucks have not signed a single external free agent.

Well, according to a new report from HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, they are trying to change that, as they have an interest in sharpshooting guard Malik Beasley. The Bucks are among six teams to show interest in the wing to this point, so they are certainly not the shooting guard’s lone suitor.

NBA Free Agency Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks targeting sharpshooting wing

Milwaukee’s interest in Beasley is justifiable; this is a team that could always use more perimeter shooting, and he’d give them just that. The wing knocked down the most threes off the bench last season by any player, with 159 total. He’s a career 37.8 percent outside shooter on 5.8 attempts per game, having made a living due to that shot. Excluding his first two seasons, where he didn’t play much, Beasley has averaged 12.7 points per game in his career.

Beasley would be an excellent addition to this bench unit. It’s no secret that the Bucks’ second unit has struggled to put points on the board over the past few years, and Beasley is a player who may be able to provide some assistance in that regard. He’d be a seamless fit amongst the team’s core pieces, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton, giving them a lethal 3-point shooter out on the perimeter to serve as a kick-out threat.

At 26 years old, he’s also still fairly young, so he would bring some youth to this roster, which the team seems to be prioritizing under their new head coach in Adrian Griffin.

In short, the Bucks should make a strong run at Beasley. With limited spending money, they can’t offer him the most lucrative deal to lure him away from those other interested suitors. However, they can offer him a role on a championship contender. If the Bucks lose out on Beasley, keep an eye on another wing in Terence Davis, who ESPN’s Mark Jones says the team is also eyeing. Between Beasley and Davis, the Bucks are clearly looking for more wing depth, and that’s music to Milwaukee Bucks fans’ ears.
