Is There A Deal Here?
So the most important question remains: is there a way to make a deal work between these two teams? There’s some potential for a Monroe to New Orleans deal, but things would be a lot easier with a third team involved.
The Pelicans’ best movable asset at the moment is probably Ryan Anderson, who is going to be merely a rental as his deal is expiring too. Milwaukee would have zero interest in that, but a lot of other teams are salivating over adding the quality stretch four.

So some playoff team ends up with Anderson, the Pelicans get Monroe, and Milwaukee gets something nice in return. Teams like Cleveland and Houston are in desperation mode at this point, and might send some nice parts to the Bucks for Anderson.
Any three team deal would be complex, but it seems at least possible that Greg Monroe ends up back home (technically Moose is from Harvey, Louisiana, but that’s close enough considering LeBron James is from Akron.)

Calling a Moose to New Orleans deal probable seems like a stretch though. The Pelicans just don’t have enough young talent to interest Milwaukee, especially if draft picks are off the table.
