NBA Draft 2016: BTBP Big Board 1.0
By Adam McGee
30. Tyler Ulis – Point Guard (Kentucky)
Words by Jordan Treske
Ulis’ 2015-16 season: 16.7 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 6.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 44.7% FG
Listed at just 5’8″ and 160lbs, Tyler Ulis is the type of point guard every NBA team needs. He has great passing instincts as he’s averaging in 6.7 assists per game this season and his 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio shows just how great his ball handling ability is as well.
Ulis’ scoring ability is also a big plus. While his three-point percentage could be much improved as he’s shooting 32 percent from deep this year, Ulis’ shooting percentage from the field (45 percent) on 16.7 points per game potentially shows how great of an offensive producer he could become.
However, as it’s often the question for any player at his size, can Ulis overcome his physical limitations to succeed at the NBA level?
There will certainly be an adjustment period for Ulis to get used to going against players that are significantly bigger than him and it’ll be interesting to see if he will learn how to master that.
